Rogue Police Officer!

Question

EnoughisEnough

Hello,

I had written by email to the Chief Secretary of Punjab about a rogue police officer who is harassing our family by filing false FIRs and trying to take control of our family lands. I had requested that a vigilance inquiry be launched against this police officer but have not heard anything back despite a reminder email. How do I go about finding out if anything has been done using the RTI route?

Dear member, you may file RTI application to the PIO, office of the Chief Secretary with a request to provide information of action taken on your complain against the said police officer. Moreover, personally approach the SP/Police Commissioner with a written representation/complain and request him to inquire and take action against the police officer.

Can this RTI application be filed on line? We have already written to the Police Commissioner but since this rogue officer has some political backing, no action is being taken against him.

Online is only for the offices of central government situated in Delhi so better to file by speed post.

As suggested you can file a RTI application to seek information on 'action taken' on your complaint. Kindly enclose a photocopy of the complaint and its proof of delivery (i.e. acknowledged copy if the complaint has been hand delivered OR postal delivery track report if the complaint has been mailed by Speed / Registered Post).

For help on drafting such a RTI application kindly refer to the blog on the following link:

Also refer to your particular State's RTI Rules for fees & formats, on the following link:
