NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Thursday asked the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission not to hold its public hearing for fixing power tariff till May 8. Justice Rajiv Shakdher directed the Central Information Commission to once again hear the plea of DERC where the latter wants to go ahead with a public hearing to fix tariff.

The Delhi High Court has refused to give any relief to Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission from a complaint case heard by the CIC to decide whether it has put mandatory information in public domain for seeking citizens' opinion on tariff fixation.

 

The CIC has admitted a complaint filed by activist Anil Sood who alleged that the necessary information has not been placed in public domain by DERC which has sought people's opinion on the tariff fixation and claimed it was a violation of mandatory disclosure clause of the RTI Act.Read more at;

The commission also directed DERC to pro-actively disclose information on controversial points like prudence check on electricity companies, non-submission of report on prudence check by consultant PWC, Income Tax issues, cost incurred by discoms in contestin ..
