Incorrect owners name printed by RTO on RC book

Recommended Posts

I had applied for RC book transfer on 7th Oct 2017 also I have provided ADHAR card and PAN card copies.

After more than one month i.e. on 11th Nov 2017, I have received my RC book, but RTO printed my surname as "SWANT" instead of "SAWANT".

I have already paid Rs. 3500 to agent in Driving school (it includes HP cancelation and RC book transfer), now he is saying I need to personally go to RTO and they will charge 1000 Rs. and again its a long process to get the transfer done.

What should I do now?

It is left to you, either to keep quiet, or issuing a notice to RTO under CP Act for deficiency of services demanding for correction at his cost, as there is deficiency of services in printing the card. (First ensure whether the agent has correctly filled the RC application with correct name or not) AADHAR and PAN card are identities and not for taking correct name spelling. They go only by application. I am afraid that your agent might have not filled the form with correct spelling and without confirmation you are blaming RTO.

Once you visit personally, and verify the application then you can take a decision as suggested in first sentence.

I don't have an issue with a spelling mistake, but will it impact while taking car insurance or at a time of selling a car?

Generally "No" but no one can predict the future attitude of a prospective buyer. Car insurance "never". If you have doubts weed them out, instead of killing you and get it corrected immediately.

there will be no problems likely to arise in the future because of typing mistake in the RC book and if you want it to be corrected no option except going to RTA office as suggested by your agent
