Question

yogirajj

Sir

i have applied for passport as government employee (defence air force ) on 05 may 2008 my file no was g000347 but i have not yet received my passport .

I have gone to passport office many times they informed that they have despatched it on 03 oct 08 vide registered letter no p008672.

But post office has lost my passport in transit as informed by amritsar post office. Amritsar post office is telling that they have sent it to delhi post for onward delivery and they have lost. Delhi post office is neither giving reply nor delivering passport.

I personally met three times with mr sodhi passport officer amritsar office. He told me to bring lost in transit certificate from post office thats why i havebeen tracking post office

i have tracked whole two year for tracing my passport with post office and passport office.now amritsar passport office has forwarded all correspondence to me telling delhi is not replying so u directly enquire to them

my point is this why i should track to post office ,i have paid fees to passport office not to post office .though i was doing but now situation has gone beyond my control.i can not force post office to give reply or issue lost in transit certificate.

Its my humble request to do needful so that i can get my passport

One attempt you can make to lodge a formal complaint over the India Post website.

You may file RTI application with the ACPIO/POST MASTER of any post office seeking details of delivery of envelope and status of your complaints. All postmasters are designated as ACPIO by dept of post. You can pay Rs.10/- in cash at that post office or through IPO. Please refer:

Long pending? :

http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/jps50/69-any-thing-pending-govt.html

Central Govt application:

http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/jps50/19-rti-application-central-govt-info.html

Make effective:

http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/jps50/93-how-make-rti-application-effective.html

I may add that there is some section [mostly section 6] under Indian Post Office Act 1898, where by post offices are not liable for any loss to addressee or sender of any post, unless malafides are proved.

You may also scale up to:

Deputy Director General (Postal Grievances and Quality Assurance)

Department of Posts,

3rd Floor, Dak Bhavan, Parliament Street, New Delhi. 110116

Telephone 23096087 / 23036433

receiving lost in transit certificate

Have u obtained that certificate ?

File RTI application with RPO for rules applicable in such cases and also ask details of last ten cases wherein passport was issued to applicant. RTI APPLICATION AS PER CENTRAL GOVT RTI rules. Please refer post # 5 for that .

If a passport posted by PPO is lost, it is the duty of PPO to inquire into the incident himself on receiving complaint on non receipt.

It is his duty. mishaps may occur some times in a very vast country.

It us just a misfortune. File RTI Application immediately to PPO.

you have been doing all this exercises since 8-9 years and in this process who is at fault is also not clear , please take the correspondence given by Amritsar postal people to the passport office and give a application for re-issue of passport since original passport was not tracable . they may take some affidavits and give new passport.

as per your querry ,your case is of 2008 ie., nine years old and most of government records including post offices will have prescribed life like 3 years, 5 years etc afterwards they will destroy. the right option is ,to apply for a fresh passport .

Despite easier rules to obtain a passport, my case has been(and is) a nightmarish one.

Two previous applications to the Bareilly Passport Office(one in 2000, the other in 2003), yielded no passports, because I was studying in Delhi, and address verification at my Dehra Dun home couldn't get done(although I did reach home both times to do the needful - read going to the SHO in Doon valley, meeting travel agents of various kinds, etc.)

Now I need a tatkal passport as I need to travel from office to Canada.
Several trips to the Delhi RPO yield nothing but tears(on my end, that is).
The problem, you might ask - the Delhi RPO wants a letter / fax from the Bareilly office, saying they have closed the applications.

      Sounds easy, doesn't it?

But it is anything but that, believe me.

The Bareilly people say they have destroyed all documents. And won't give me this in writing.

To my question as to whether I can apply afresh, without mentioning my previous applications, they have this to say,"do saal ka imprisonment hain, madam. Dekh lijiye."

Do any of you have any idea what can be done in this case?

Should I consult a legal expert? any suggestions who?

The RTI link on the passport site is under construction.

      Pretty convenient, isn't it?

      I need some answers here.

      Do help.

      Thanks.

      Vandana
