  2. Jammu, Sept 19: The State Information Commission (SIC) has warned Superintending Engineer, Sewerage & Drainage division Jammu west, for his lukewarm attitude towards RTI Act implementation. The commission has also directed the Executive Engineer of the division to provide information under RTI Act to an information seeker who was earlier provided incomplete and misleading information. New Delhi, Sep 19: Aam Admi Party dethroned the Congress Party from Delhi during election over corruption issue, now the same government is under scanner over its’s corruption in onion purchases. According to reports, RTI report revealed that the Delhi government had purchased 2637 tonnes of onion at Rs.16 per kg from SFAC. And, the same was sold at Rs 40 per kg. Moreover, the Kejriwal government claimed of giving subsidy of Rs 10 to the people in onion retail price. The marketing team leader of SFAC signed on the sale receipts of onion to Delhi government.   8. GURGAON: Civil Hospital lacks adequate furniture but, going by an RTI response, it has spent more than Rs 1 crore on furniture in the past four years. An audit report that was attached with the RTI response affirmed that the hospital has spent Rs 1,15,63,716 on 183 items which include two benches, 11 office tables, 10 cupboards, 22 chairs (waiting room chairs and swivel chairs).   10. Local governments such as Chennai Corporation have started implementing suo motu disclosure under Right to Information Act 2005. Residents will be able to access online a wide range of civic information once “all details of the public authority are uploaded on its website.” This move follows the recommendations of a committee of experts consisting of retired Central Chief Information Commissioner A. N. Tiwari and retired Information Commissioner M. M. Ansari to further strengthen implementation of section 4 of RTI Act 2005.   11. Once again a case of mysterious disappearance of gold from the customs secure vaults has come into light. The missing gold is worth about Rs 6.2 crore as per the latest market price and was seized from smugglers. It was found that a total of 23.6 kg of gold disappeared recently from highly-secured customs vaults at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi. Panjab University (PU) syndicate will now resolve the issue of whether to allow Punjab government officials for physical verification of information uploaded on the varsity’s website under the RTI Act, 2005. So far, the varsity has maintained that it is an inter-state corporate body and is under the Centre as interpreted from the Panjab University Act, 1947.   13. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's past life seems to be attracting interest far and wide. However, despite Modi being a public figure, an RTI application seeking details of the MA course pursued by him in 1980s has been turned down by Gujarat University. The applications were filed from Mumbai and Delhi respectively. GU's top officials have said that marksheets being 'private documents' of the students, GU cannot provide access to such information.   14. HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has borrowed a whopping Rs 51,000 crore from various funding agencies in the first 15 months of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi rule in the state.
