As the banking industry is growing, candidates from diversified fields are applying for bank jobs. But it takes long time to succeed for such job.If an aspirant know the marks of last selected candidate(Cut off) and his/her marks, he/she can work out on the weak areas and achieve success easily.Aspirants have a fear of General Awareness questions as it is a wide topic but the cut off of this topic lies somewhere between 10 to 21 marks out of 50.I have used Right to Information Act, 2005 extensively and collected many different data apart from cut off of various Bank PO/Clerk exam. All the data has been posted on the following blog so that a hard working person gets fruits of his/her hard work easily. ㅤㅤㅤPappu Pass Kyu Nahi Hua ???

    No rules on saving footage

No rules on saving footage: RTI query as reported by Kunal Purohit, Hindustan Times, Mumbai, September 27, 2010 If you find that someone has mysteriously withdrawn money from your bank account using an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM), do not expect the close circuit television camera in the ATM to help you identify the culprit. Most banks do not preserve the footage these CCTVs record for more than a month. This is what activist Mohamed Afzal found out when he filed an application with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Right To Information Act. The RBI told Khan it has not issued guidelines to banks on the minimum period for which CCTV footage should be preserved. “As a result, citizens are left in a lurch if something goes wrong,” Afzal said. Afzal filed the application after he saw what had happened to 63-year-old Mira Road resident Saifullah Khan (name changed on request). Khan found out in April that somebody had used ATMs to withdraw Rs 3.36 lakh from his bank account over three months. “We wanted the bank to give us the footage captured by close-circuit television cameras in those ATMs so that we could identify the culprit,” Khan’s nephew, Siraj (name changed on request), said. “After dilly-dallying for a month, the manager issued a letter saying the bank preserved the footage only for a month.” Siraj said the manager told them because there were no clear instructions on preserving footage the bank preserved it as long as its infrastructure supported it. “The lack of guidelines means if a bank does not disclose CCTV footage in cases like Khan’s, then there is nothing a common man can do to challenge it,” Afzal said. The manager of a nationalised bank, requesting anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media, said: “There are no guidelines on how the footage should be stored so every bank takes an individual decision. We preserve the footage on computers until the disk has memory space and on compact discs after that.” The manager said there was an urgent need for the RBI to regulate this practice. “Most banks avoid taking security measures because of the expenditure involved,” the manager said. 8. Hi, 1. My father was a Sr. Doctor with Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi and was employee of the Central Govt. Health Scheme (CGHS) 2. He retired in 1990 and was receiving his pension at the State Bank of India, South Extension Branch. 3. He had a stroke in 2004 and could not give his annual "Life Certificate" from 2005 till his death in 2008. 4. Inspite of submitting all relevant documents with the bank , the bank has failed to update his passbook/ release his pension due/ clear his arrears etc. 5. ALL queries with the said bank are met with..."We have send the documents to the central processing branch at Chandni Chowk". Now I wish to know under the purview of RTI who do I seek the relevant information regarding the status of my deceased fathers dues etc? The said Branch refuses to entertain any query. And secondly...what is the language that I need to use to succinctly put my case forward? Any reply regarding this would be most helpful, any links to similar problems too would be welcomed. Thanks all ! tanbir

    India silent on tax cheats

As reported by Vishwa Mohan of TNN in Times of India, Hyderabad Edition, on 21 May 2008: Welcome India silent on tax cheats Germany Ready To Reveal List Of Indians With Funds In Tax Haven Vishwa Mohan | TNN New Delhi: Investigators in India might have their best chance yet to trace those Indians who have stashed away millions in the tiny tax haven of Liechtenstein, a small landlocked country between Austria and Switzerland, provided the Manmohan Singh government asks for the information on offer. The dope on hundreds of rich Indians who have black money parked in Liechtenstein could be made available to the authorities here as the German government, which has obtained a list of account holders at Liechtenstein’s LTG Bank, is willing to part with the names. The German federal government has been willing to do this free of charge since February. Several countries including the US, the UK, Canada, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Ireland have already used the opportunity to zero in on their citizens who have evaded taxes and smuggled their wealth to the principality, the sixth-smallest country in the world. But Transparency International says India has maintained “a stoic silence over the issue and has not approached the German government for this data’’. Expressing concern over the India’s lackadaisical attitude in getting after offenders who have cheated the tax authorities of millions of dollars is quite surprising and the Indian chapter of TI— an international organization campaigning to reduce corruption— has urged the government to take all necessary steps to seek the data. Admiral R H Tahiliani, chairman of TI India and a former navy chief, said: “This money belongs to the people of India and it is possible that it has been tucked away in this distant country by those who have acquired it illegally.’’ Indeed, the offer looks too good to refuse. It is a bit like being served secrets on a platter and if the government does not waste time looking a gift horse in the mouth, it could get data that might otherwise never be accessed given the laws that protect tax havens that often require specific proof of criminality. In fact, the dice is invariably loaded against investigators— for example the Hindujas were able to delay proceedings in the Bofors case by challenging each application filed by CBI. Suspecting that the government’s chariness could stem from fears that politicians and industrialists might be compromised by the data, TI has, in a statement, said: “It is alleged that this money belongs to rich and powerful politicians, industrialists and stock brokers and that is why the reluctance on the part of Government of India (to get details from Germany).’’ Liechtenstein: Paradise for tax evaders In February, the head of Deutsche Post, Klaus Zumwinkel, was forced to resign after being accused of stashing funds away in Liechtenstein. On February 25, Germany said the details of the 800 non-German account-holders would be given to their respective countries free of cost. PMO blinks at Indians’ slush money abroad New Delhi: The list of rich Indians who have black money parked in Liechtenstein, a tax haven, could be made available to the Indian authorities as the German government, which has obtained a list of account holders at Liechtenstein’s LTG Bank, is willing to part with the names. German federal government has been willing to do this free of charge since February. Liechtenstein, like many other countries including Switzerland, St Kitts, Canary Islands, Antigua and Bahamas, has been a haven for wealthy people to hide their ill-gotten wealth away from the prying eyes of tax authorities. Referring to certain reports, the Transparency International (TI) mentioned that German intelligence agency —BND — has details of about 800 clients of LTG Bank — run by Liechtenstein’s ruling dynasty. “The Indian ministry of finance and PMO have, however, not shown much interest in finding out about those who have their lockers in the secret banks of Liechtenstein which prides itself in its banking system,’’ TI said. Times View Government must not think twice before accepting the offer from Germany to reveal the names of those who have illegally stashed away money in Liechtenstein. Many, if not most, of the account holders are likely to be corrupt politicians and others hiding wealth obtained by dubious means, as Transparency International has rightly pointed out. If the government is serious about cleansing public life in India, the least it can do is accept such fortuitous offers with alacrity. The citizens have a right to know who is secreting away public money into personal accounts and the government has a duty to get that information if it can.

  21. As per my knowledge, these should be atleast one transaction (either Withdrawl or deposit) in a financial year to protect saving account from Non Active a/c. Our's SBBJ bank's Branch (Rajakhera, Dholpur, Raj.) had deducted Rs150.0 as penalty from not depositing any money in a financial yr while transaction of money withdrawl was done in June 09. On asking with branch, they justify their decision as a RBI Rule without showing any document / advises from RBI. Is it right?
  22. Dear sir/madam, This is with reference to above mentioned subject. I am having saving account No SB account no-960.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x.x with BANK OF INDIA WARORA BRANCH. I have received the call from WARORA BOI that transactions of Rs 229000 has made from my account on 16th NOVEMBER 2009.. I approached the Branch on same day evening(17th NOVEMBER 2009) & again next day morning(18th NOVEMBER 2009) and given written complain as well as online complaints through complaint reference number 893819 regarding fraudulent withdrawal from my account . I requested BOI to reverse those all fraudulent transaction from account and credit the same in my account.BOI WARORA authorities asked me to lodge FIR with Police,I lodged FIR complaint with WARORA POLICE STATION on 19th NOVEMBER 2010 for properly Investigating the matter, I have provided them the details of all six account holders, their branch name, address. Details of the said six account holder are enclosed herewith. Initially WARORA POLICE swung into the action as this was first case under its jurisdiction, even local as well state press gave this incident good coverage ,WARORA POLICE have even arrested FOUR/FIVE of the account holders from MUMBAI and for reason best known to them this case is put in cold storage it seems, even my enquiry from them fails to solicit any satisfactory response, Always they are telling main culprit is absconding. Similarly I have repeatedly followed up with BOI, but they never shown their willingness to investigate the matter and return my amount. Normally if any one wants to operate Internet Banking, firstly we have to give a Customer ID & Customer ID password for open the account, after that for doing any transaction we have to enter transaction password and we have to furnish the number of details as they required we have to feed all the data as called for(Grid Numbers). So far I never made any online cash transfer at any point of time.Normally, the bank will not allow any transaction more than Rs. 1,00,000/- per day, further each and every transaction will be communicated to its customer with in fraction of seconds on his mobile phone and also there will be a mail to its customer E-Mail account. In this case there is no such intimation to me. Sir, I am regret to say that Bank of INDIA/POLICE is having all desired information like, Account number, Name and address of all the SIX account holders, video clip of ATM etc, but instead of expediting the investigating procedure and calling those account holders, they are simply giving misleading and baseless reply or passing their time Nobody from Bank want to give the information in writing that fraud has taken place & all the time they are telling that you have to wait for POLICE Inquiry.. After having all information bank has not taking matter seriously & giving a chance to the culprit to use the money & run away. OUR datas are handled by out sourced employee ( who are working at low salaries) they may misuse the data to make fast money. This indicate public hard earned money is not safe in the Bank. Sir,After making complaints BANK is supposed to seal all six accounts but suddenly on 2nd JANUARY 2010 again through internet fraud Rs 15000/ was deposited in Mr. Vishajeet Gayakwad (A/C NO-OO3510310000097,NAYAGAON BRANCH MUMBAI) and this deposited money was allowed to withdraw from BANK due to sheer negligence of concerned bank officials, needlless to say this person was in police custody also and released on bail . It is nightmare for me after losing the money. I am single earning member of my family of six members. I was keeping that money for my house construction at my native place DHANBAD(JHARKHAND) I need your Intervention & support to resolve the issue & get back My Hard earned Money at the earliest. 23. According to the data released by the Reserve Bank of India, Rs.1188 crore lying unclaimed with Indian Banks in 1.92 crore inactive/dormant accounts as on Dec, 2008. As per the guidelines issued by RBI vide No.DBOD.No.Leg.BC.34/09.07.005/2008-09, dated August 22, 2008, all scheduled banks should make an annual review of accounts in whcih there are no operations for more than one year and approach the customers in writing and ascertain the reasons for non-operation. If the letters are un-delivered banks may immediately be put on enquiry to find out the whereabouts of the customers or their legal heirs in case they are deceased. But banks are not complied with these guidelines. The customers mainly poor, middle class and illeterate's amounts are lying with banks as unclaimed even though they need every rupee for their livelihood. With a motto of that the amount should be either with bank as an "operative" or as cash in the pockets of customers, I have submitted an application requesting CPIO, Andhra Bank,Arundelpet Branch to furnsih the name and address and account no.s of the customers whose amounts are lying as "Un-claimed" for the last 3 years in S.B accounts i.e., accounts not in operation only duly knowing that the information will not be disclosed by the banks under shelter 8 (1) (e) & (j). The CPIO and A.A replied accordingly. Now my contension is that the banks are appointing outside persons as "Recovery Agents" (with the approval of RBI) paying commission for debts recovery from the customers who are due to the bank by giving full particulars of the customers who have taken loans and credit cards from banks i.e., they are disclosing the information of their customers duly violating the rules of the bank "personal information can't be reveal to others". In such a case, my opinion is that the value of cash is same and one whether it belongs to either bank or customer. But the banks are planned to get benefit with the money of the innocent customers by keeping with them as un-claimed deposits. The banks are playing double game in disclosure of information i.e., disclosing information to Recovery Agents and denying the same to others which is not justified. In the above case, Iam going to prefer 2nd appeal to CIC. As the CIC had given decisions in favour of banks in so many cases, my case will also be decided accordingly. But I have to put new aspects to peruse by the CIC as mentined above. Please advice me how to submit 2nd appeal with additional information to the CIC which was not submitted by others previously so as to expose the double game of the banks.

Can private banks run 'suspense accounts', CIC asks RBI AS appeard in India News section of TwoCirclesNet on 14 July 2009 New Delhi, July 14 (IANS) If a cheque has a spelling mistake in the recipient's name, can the bank put the money in a temporary account? The Central Information Commission (CIC) has asked the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to clarify on this practice. The decision last week came on a Right to Information application filed by Delhi-based RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal with the finance ministry last year. Agrawal told IANS: "One of my unconfirmed sources had told me that in Delhi alone ICICI Bank has nearly Rs.100 crore lying in suspense accounts. So I feel, the RTI Act should also apply to those private sector establishments where public interest is concerned and such malpractices are taking place." Agrawal had asked the ministry if it was aware that ICICI Bank, India's leading private bank, was following the practice of crediting the proceeds of many clearing instruments like cheques and demand drafts, bearing insufficient details about the account holders to a 'suspense account'. He had also asked if the government was going to take any steps to prevent this practice. Not satisfied with the reply he received from the central bank. Agrawal approached the CIC. "We feel that the RBI must write to the appellant again and give a comprehensive reply stating categorically if the RBI had ever issued any instruction on the subject and if, according to the available information with them, such practice is being followed in other banks including public sector banks," Information Commissioner Satyananda Mishra of CIC observed in his order. Agrawal has indeed brought "a very important matter to the notice of the authorities through his application which deserves to be taken into account by the RBI for appropriate action. We strongly recommend that this matter should receive attention of the authorities in the RBI", Mishra noted Can private banks run 'suspense accounts', CIC asks RBI | TwoCircles.net
