How to get inquire about rules related Electricity connection in the name of tenant
hmamuwala posted a question in Ask for RTI Support
I am from Andhra Pradesh Secunderabad and a tenant has taken a Meter (Electricity connection) in his name some 10 years back. But as per their Prevailing rules a new connection cannot be given in tenants name. Now I want to file an RTI questioning on what basis and papers this connection was approved. Where and how can I file the RTI? -
Hello, I stay in Gurgaon and our electricity department has recently changed our meter. Before this I used to be billed heavily during summers and not as much during winters, which is fair. In summers I use A/C which can speed up the reading, and in winters I do not even use heaters at home. Other appliances are also bare minimal. But recently the electricity department changed the meter, in winters. My usage remains the same, but my bill has become 5 times. When I tried reaching out to them, their standard reply is older meters never worked, which is why they were replaced. How can meters that work in summers, start working in winters. All of this falls on deaf ears. Is there anyway I can file an RTI to have the issue looked into and get me answers. I am an individual with no earning, so any such escalation in bills is highly damaging. I appreciate your support and guidance.

We have a farm in Mysore. The govt of Karnataka provides free electricity (3 phase) for irrigation. However, this is just for a few hours everyday. Very often, the lines or transformer is not working. And this stays in a non working condition sometimes for months. When we approach the line man, they collect 500-700 rupees per house to fix the connection. They say that the transformer is gone and that it will cost X Rupees to buy spares. And even then, it's not fixed. How do I find out what is the policy regarding free electricity and duration and procedure to fix and escalation process. How can I draft an RTI to address these issues? Who do I send it to? Thanks for your help!

Hi All, I am Santosh and I belong to a dist called GONDA in Uttar Pradesh. There are a lot of villages where we still do not have electricity. My question is, is there any was I can ask govt/concerned people as to when will the electricity facility be introduced in our village. We have the electricity pole at about 200 mts away from our house where electricity is active. I presume that the electricity extension is already given to our village but the lineman has not extended the line in lieu of some bribe from the villagers. Please advise how can my issue be addressed.

Hi , MSEB has planned to take the high power line to one of the sub station near by my town Shirwal. Now they have decided to build a tower in my land which is causing a problem. Actually I want to shift the tower location or want to object the decision. I have not got any notice or notification of this tower and contractor is telling that nothing can be done. Bur I think it should be notified to me before any construction work. So I need a help on how I can request information from MSEB on route of Tower line and process of changing the tower location. And if at all it cannot be changed what are the compensation for the same. No one has approached us for the permission or compensation yet. This is my first post so I could not be specific in posting a query. Please bear with me if any rules of the forums are not followed. Thanks a lot in advance Sachin Bhosale

Job Transfer to a TNEB Foreman for his arrogant attitude and failure of Duty
saiy2k posted a topic in Post your RTI Success here
Hi, We went to EB Office (in Chennai) to interrogate on a Electricity complaint given a week back (Orally) and to file a written complaint. But the Foreman, who was the authority to get our complaint and give back the acknowledgement, fighted with us unnecessarily and didnt receive our complaint and give us acknowledgement. By luck, we were able to capture the entire conversation in our mobile camera and with the captured video as proof, a complaint was made to Chairman, TANGEDO, but nothing moved. Then we filed RTI enquiring the status of the complaint, and then things started moving as we expected and the Foreman was warned and transferred to another office. The Imphal Free Press IMPHAL, Aug 22: A dead man was found drawing salary in the electricity department as assistant lineman sixteen years after his death. This faux pass came to light when L Tombi and L Rishikanta, wife and son of late L Ningthemjao of Kiyam Siphai, filed a complaint with the state chief information commissioner for service-related documents of Ningthemjao from the electricity department under the Right to Information Act on July 7, 2007. As told by Rishikanta at a press conference held today at the office of Human Rights Law Network, his father was serving as an assistant lineman with the electricity department from January 21, 1971. Later, on August 18, 1984, he joined as work charge. However, Rishikanta said, his father died on June 21, 1985 due to illness. He said that the representatives from the office employee union came for his shradha and provided monetary help. Rishikanta said that since he was very young and his mother was also illiterate, they did not have any idea about pension and other benefits procedures. He said, “It was only in 2004 that we sent an application to the electricity department to find out about my father’s pension when one of his friends enquired about it. Then we started to investigate and could not make much headway.†M Rakesh, state coordinator HRLN, said that after Rishikanta approached for help, he sent a legal notice to the chief engineer of the electricity department on January 17, 2007 on behalf of Tombi inquiring about the pension benefits of late Ningthemjao. Not being able to make much progress, two applications were sent by Tombi and Rishikanta under RTI to the electricity department. After 30 days lapsed with no action forthcoming, on July 7, 2007, the state information commission was approached. Thereafter, the state information commission directed the chief engineer of the electricity department to furnish the relevant service documents of Ningthemjao. In the service documents provided by the electricity department, it was found that Ningthemjao was promoted as lineman on January 16, 1998, thirteen years after his death, by the then chief engineer. Thereafter he retired on superannuation on August 31, 2001, more than 16 years after his death. Apart from having somebody withdrawing Ningthemjao’s salary for the past 16 years, Rakesh said that there were various false documentations. As per the family’s version, at the time of his death Ningthemjao was serving with the Thoubal electricity division whereas the official document mentioned that he was last serving with the Imphal Electrical Division No. 3, Lamphelpat. Rakesh said that a criminal case will be taken up at the earliest against the electricity department and the High Court will be approached to provide relief to the aggrieved family. Our university has recently constructed a new building and it is almost ready. I do not belive that the university is in possession of the "occupation certificate" I also do not think that the university has not applied for the fire safety certificate from the competent authority Also the electrical safety certificate is not there, I think (to be obtained from the APSEB). I need your help in framing an RTI, directed to the PIO of the University, to provide me copies of these three documents. In the past, university has declined to give information with the stock answer "no such document exists in the records" So I need to specify very accurately the titles and the information I am seeking. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How many Electricity Meters for 2 flats combined together
resunil posted a question in Ask for Non RTI Support
We have two 1BHK residential flats, one in the name of my father & other in my name. We have combined both the flats together & have one single entrance door. This arrangement was provided to us by builder. We have 2 single phase electricity meters, one for the flat in my father's name & the other for the flat in my name as we have 2 separate agreements for both flats. We are staying in the above property since last 5 years. All of sudden, now electricity department officials are pointing that we cannot have 2 electricity meters since we have combined both the flats & since there is only one entrance door for both the flats. Please suggest the following: 1: Is it mandatory to have 1 electricity meter for 2 flats combined together even if there are 2 different sale deed agreements 2: Is there a penalty for having the above arrangement, if yes, how much? 3: What is the procedure to get only one meter if the above arrangement is incorrect 4: Is there any NGO or any other body which can help in the above process as we are unnecessarily being harassed by local electricity officials Your kind suggestions & guidance will be highly appreciated -

I would like to submit a RTI application. The querry is: I own a farmhouse in a village near Pune district. My structure is located on a distance of around 500 metres from the nearest electric grid. I have already applied for a 3phase electricity connection for pumping irrigated water & have paid all the fees & charges. Now the MSEB officer of that village is asking for another 40,000 Rs, which he says is the expenditure of buying & erecting 3 or 4 electricity poles along with wires & miscellanous expenses. Is there any rule which says that these infra structural costs have to be incurred by the consumer. Please guide me as to how to draft this application & to whom it is to be addressed. Is there any online submition procedure which we can do. Thanks

How to use RTI to question a Engineer of Electricity board
polis77 posted a question in Ask for RTI Support
Hi folks, I am a villager from Tamilnadu and have some queries regarding the following situation. In our area, the electricity lines are not safe and the power we receive has lots of fluctuations. I wrote about this to the Asst. Engineer of the local Tamilnadu Electricity Board through registered post (I have the receipt for that) but I did not receive any reply and still the electric lines are not repaired. My questions are: 1. Is it possible to ask the Asst. Engineer, why there is no action to repair the lines/when will he repair it? 2. If yes, how to do that? Please tell me in detail. 3. If no, what should I do? Your reply is going to help lots of innocent people. Awaiting for your replies.
