  1. Mumbai: Refusing to share in the euphoria of ally BJP over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's China visit, Shiv Sena on Monday accused the neighbouring country of pursuing a policy of "hugging from the front and stabbing from behind". "Our experience has shown that China believes in hugging from the front and stabbing from behind. On one hand they gave a grand welcome to Prime Minister Modi during his visit to China, and on the other, wiped off Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh from India's map," said an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece, 'Saamana'.Read more at; bnlive.in.com/news/shiv-sena-takes-dim-view-of-modis-china-visit/546210-37-64.html
  2. Information sought on Modi's foreign travel expenses 'too vague and wide' to be revealed, RTI reply from PMO says CHENNAI: "Information sought is too vague and wide." That was the response from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to an RTI application about the amount of money spent on foreign visits made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he assumed office on May 26 last year. In response to an RTI application filed by TOI, the PMO said Modi made eight foreign trips in 2014, of which he spent a maximum of five days in the US. The reply said Modi had spent four days each in Brazil, Australia and Nepal followed by Japan (three days), Myanmar (two days), Bhutan and Fiji (one day each) in 2014. Nepal is the only foreign country which Modi visited twice -- from August 3 to 5, (state visit) and from November 25 to 27 (to attend the SAARC summit). Of the 220 days in office last year (from May 26, 2014 to December 31, 2014), Modi was abroad for 24 days. This means he was in a foreign country once in nine days since he became the Prime Minister. Modi is currently away on a five-day visit to three island nations - Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka -- which is also his first foreign tour in 2015. Modi is also expected to visit France, Germany, Canada, China, Russia and Turkey in the next few months. In 2011, the Central Information Commission instructed the cabinet secretariat to disclose the amount spent on the travel of ministers and VVIPs because of 'large public interest' in the matter. Though the PMO now stonewalled queries related to the money spent on Modi's foreign tours, in 2013 it disclosed the amount spent on the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's air travels expenses -- Rs 642 crore in nine years. The amount was revealed under the mandatory proactive disclosure clause of the RTI Act. Interestingly, the PMO has disclosed only the domestic tours of Modi on its website under RTI Act without mentioning the amount spent or the list of people who accompanied. The Prime Minister made 48 domestic tours since May 2014, of which 19 were for non-official purposes, according to the website. It revealed that Modi had visited Maharashtra 12 times in the period followed by Jammu & Kashmir (nine), Haryana (seven) and Jharkhand (six). Not surprisingly, all these states had elections in the recent past. The Prime Minister did not visit states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Odisha, Punjab and West Bengal. These states did not have any major elections in this period. NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister's Office says it has no information about the cost incurred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wardrobe.Replying to a query under the Right to Information Act, the Prime Minister's Office said it had no record of the information sought by applicant Rohit Kumar.Read at: No Information on Cost of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Wardrobe, Says His Office in Reply to RTI Query
  4. [h=1]Web traffic to government website topped on PM Narendra Modi's Madison Square Garden speech day[/h] NEW DELHI: Traffic to the Modi Government's showpiece website -- mygov.in -- hit an all-time high of nearly 10 lakh hits on the day Narendra Modi was on his maiden trip to USA as the Prime Minister last September and gave a rockstar address at the Madison Square Garden before meeting US President Barack Obama, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has revealed. The said website gets a daily average of 1.52 lakh views but it got the maximum page views of 9.82 lakh on September 29 last year, the PMO has revealed in response to a RTI application. Modi had introduced a web-link on pmindia.gov.in website where people can lodge their submissions, suggestions and grievances and the page contains two sections -- where people can write to the Prime Minister and the other for suggestions and ideas. "The latter takes you to mygov.in, a comprehensive platform that empowers each citizen to contribute towards nation building. Citizens can share their thoughts and ideas on a wide range of issues. MyGov has been initiated as a medium for public participation in governance. Hence it is configured to allow the maximum possible number of citizens to register and participate," the PMO said replying to a RTI application by activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal. 5. Collections for the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) this financial year are likely to be the highest since 2004-05, a reply to a right to information (RTI) application shows. From April 1 to December 31, 2014, the fund got Rs 315.65 crore, making it a monthly average of Rs 35 crore, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who’s been aggressively making a pitch to attract funds to PMNRF, has been at the helm since May 2014. 6. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits have been the talk of the town ever since he became the country’s PM in May 2014. While he has managed to win over the hearts of a few, there are many who wonder how much of the common man’s hard-earned money has been used to sponsor these trips. Mumbai resident Mansoor Darvesh filed a Right to Information (RTI) plea on December 24, 2014 demanding to know the number of foreign visits Modi has made from May 2014 to November 30, 2014, the delegates who have accompanied him and the amount spent on these trips. The reply that he got from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was far from satisfactory. - See more at: PMO clams up about money spent on Modi’s foreign visits - News

The organisation in 2012 had sought information under RTI Act regarding funds provided to NGRBA for the conservation and cleaning of the Ganga since 2009. But, the government shied away from providing complete information. Read More: Modi's decision for audit of NMCG welcomed - The Times of India
