Vidi posted a question in Ask for RTI SupportHello.. Before i post my questions, would like to give a little background so i get the right answers which will help me. My husband is a serving Indian Army officer. After 12 yrs of marriage he secretly married another woman without a hint or without taking divorce from me. He illegally married someone without nullifying his 1st marriage. Since he is serving in Army, i filed a complaint to his higher officials. After writing to several officers for about six months - a court of inquiry was conducted where he was proved guilty of bigamy. The court of inquiry was conducted in Feb' 2009 where in within a week, during the court proceedings he was proved guilty. I am separated and since then i have been writing to them asking for what is the outcome of it and how do they punish someone who is proved guilty of bigamy ? The officer is serving in Army since last about 15 yrs approx and the other officers there are trying to shove this matter under the carpet. I want to file under RTI and have some question... Is there a separate/different office to file for RTI against serving defence officers ? I want to know what action the Army Aourt took after knowing that he was proved guilty for bigamy. Because i am aware that Army court hasn't taken any action and the officer is still serving and holds the same rank and enjoys the same perks as earlier and still living with the same women tho his 2nd marriage is illegal. Can i file for RTI - in the given situation ? Since it is against a defence officer, are there any different rules or different offices to file ? I reside in Vadodara, Gujarat. Can you please guide me if you know where the RTI office is located ? All help is welcome as at this moment i am all blank. Have been googling about RTI and that is how i stumbled upon this forum. Thankyou, Vidi..
As reported at timesofindia.indiatimes.com on 16 September 2009 VADODARA: MS University (MSU) registrar's signing authority has been revoked and his office has been sealed, for the first time in the history of university. Vice-chancellor (V-C) Ramesh Goyal gave the order after a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by a senate member revealed that registrar A V Gupta has been drawing excess salary by not disclosing the actual amount of pension that he received as a retired colonel. Goyal had sought Gupta's clarification after receiving information that had surfaced after the RTI application made by senate member Narendra Ravat, but when the registrar refused to divulge details, Goyal called an urgent meeting of all section heads on Wednesday. The RTI reply had stated that every month Rs 8,827 was deducted from the registrar's salary in lieu of the pension he received. Ravat, then, produced Gupta's bank statement that showed that he was getting a pension of Rs 11,216 since 2006, of which Gupta had not informed the university. "In his reply, Gupta said he was not obliged to disclose the amount of salary he drew from the varsity. There were complaints against him from staffers in the administration and I had to take this step to ensure smooth functioning," Goyal said. On Wednesday, Goyal issued the circular to all faculties deans, heads of institutions and sectional heads of university office. "All correspondences received in the name of Gupta should be directed to V-C's office and the registrar will not sign any correspondence unless a written approval of V-C is taken," the notice said. Gupta's personal secretary also has been directed to work directly under V-C's control. These decisions came in effect from Wednesday and will continue till October 10. The notice also stated that Gupta be allowed to handle Thoughtronics Centre at Sayaji Bhawan without any assistance or any intervention in administration. Many feel that these action hints that Gupta's tenure in office will be over even before his retirement date, November 23.
