Maximum compensation for lost registered letter or article is Rs 100

As per post office norms, if dept of posts, fails to deliver your registered letter or article or if finds the same is lost in transit, its liable to pay only Rs 100 to sender towards compensation.

But the fact is that citizen may have to spend more than the double amount for getting such compensation in terms of time, money and good will.

You must preserve money receipt and register the complaint with relevant post office attaching copy of receipt. (where registered post was booked) or online on indiapost website. Once post dept declares it lost and awards compensation than you need to submit receipt with letter of award to receive Rs 100 compensation....

 

But the fact is that citizen may have to spend more than the double amount for getting such compensation in terms of time, money and good will.
