Supreme Court has tried to curb the unhealthy practice of frequent adjournments, by making rules, so that any lawyer seeking adjournment will have to file a consent-letter for adjournment from the opposite side to be submitted to the court-registry at least two days in advance of hearing-date.

The Circular issued by the SC is attached to this post.

Members should use the above circular freely with SICs - specially those which give frequent adjournments, even though it is not directly applicable to SICs.

Are they giving adjournments more liberally ?

The three worst SICs in giving adjournments are:

1. UPSIC

2. Karnataka SIC

3. Odisha SIC
