next step Not accepting Aadhar card by RTO

Last month, I had visited RTO ahmedabad and Vadodara office in Gujarat for change of address in RC book. The cleark accepted aadhar card for address proof but the RTO officer who is seating in office no 1, means the head of the office not accepted aadhar card for address proof. Than I attached copy of government bank passbook. Even though he resufused. I paid all required fees sr./Jr. clearks already scrutinised the copy and after that RTO head refused to accept the application. I asked agents outside the RTO office and they said on the basis of aadhar card ur address will be change but I have to pay agent for that five times more than RTO fee. In this case how can I know the fact that aadhar card is valid or not in RTO office?

1. Visit the website of the RTO or the Transport Department of Gujarat and check for the list of documents required for address proof of new vehicle registration or change of registration. See whether Aadhaar and Nationalised Bank passbook is listed in it or not.

 

2. If the list is not available, then file a RTI with the PIO of the RTO and aks for:

 

"List of documents accepted as address proof for the purposes of:

Issuing of learners licence

Issue of Drivers licence

Registration / Re-registration of vehicle"

First make a complaint to State Commissioner for not accepting Aadhar Card copy as address proof. Now in other states, they have made it compulsory, and noting AAdhar particulars both in Driving license and RC book and kept their personnel posted at Petrol Bunks for insisting.

Aadhar card is also address proof accepted for LPG also.

I have mailed transport commissioner along with few reminders. But, till date no reply even acknowledgement from department. Now, what should be my next step?

Have you visited RTO office now, and submitted Aadhar card and whether they have accepted it as proof of your address identity. Have you not explored other opportunities as demanded by RTO for other address proofs.

The primary issue is not accepting Aadhar Card as address proof, is the same problem still remaining?

Unless Govt issues GR to accept aadhar card as address proof, RTO is justified in not accepting it. You may request transport commissioner []404 Not Found to come up with a GR to this effect. His address is:

Yes. Primary issue is that RTO is still not accepting Aadhar card and Government bank passbook as POA.

Aadhar Card is accepted as Address Proof for issuance of an Indian Passport. Pass Book of Scheduled / Nationalised Bank is also accepted as Address Proof. Why these cannot be accepted for change of address in RC Book? See the passport link:

Can you just make telephonic inquiries and ask them the certificates needed for address proof if that is not available on their website, so that poster can be satisfied.

RTO Vadodara. I want to make it clear that head cleark , senior/junior assistants were asking to attach aadhar card. First head cleark scrutinised the application with aadhar card and made remark for fee payment. Thereafter I paid fees. Then again came to Junior cleark table, he again scrutinised with attached aadhar card and wrote remarks about the work to be done and asked me to go for sign of officer sitting in room number 1 of RTO office. I went to room number 1, peon took all application forms from me and other agent. All forms were cleared with in a minute except mine. Than officer asked me to meet officer. He refused to accept the application form due to aadhar card. Then I gave him SBI passbook copy. He also refused to accept that. I paid total fee of 400 rupee. One of the agent asked me to get it done on the basis of aadhar card on very high charges. So, there must be my fault that I tried to proceed by my self and without the help of agent at RTO office. Isn't it?

Please write a letter direct to RTO enclosing the Reply to Post No.12 (down load)(Copy and paste) and request him to accept AADHAR CARD as in several states now made it as mandatory for all registrations. Please come back and inform his reaction.

(Every one is aware that it is a drama. My personal advise is meeting RTO personally and explaining the difficulty and showing the reply to Post as mentioned above or seeking the bonafides for address proof as per their guidelines.)

They don't have any circular for accepting /not accepting Aadhar card. Anyway leave it as it is. No one can help in this matter.
