Want to get number of Scheduled Castes and number of people in some Delhi villages

Hello,

It's my first post on rtiindia. Let's come to the point fast.

I've got a project from my institute to find following data(Social Welfare related). And for this, shall I have to file RTI to Delhi-SDMs/Delhi-govt or at other place?? So please guide me guys.

 

Here is the requirement for the project(Help is needed for question number 3 and 4):

 

1) Number of SC Scheduled Castes in Delhi (easily available on internet).

2) Number of SC people caste-wise in Every District (Though it was tedious to find, but at last I got the result after a long struggle)

 

3) Number of SC people caste-wise(first 4 castes in Delhi's SC-list; i.e. Ad-Dharmi, Agria, Aheria, Balai) in every village/town of every District in Delhi. And for this question, I might have to get out of my computer room. (To apply RTI.. But yeah, is it possible to file RTI in the required department from my Computer Room?? )

4)(Hardest one, I think so) From where Agria caste came in Delhi? (As in the last available caste census, it was not in Delhi). (I'm in a fix whether RTI can be used for this one or not. :| )

 

Any sort of help is heartily appreciated.

Don't waste your time by filing RTI to NCT authorities. The origin of Agria caste at Delhi may not be material information held by the NCT authorities.

 

A workstation for research on Census Data has been set as part of a joint collaboration between the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The workstation, situated at the JNU New Convention Centre, JNU Campus, Delhi, has the facility to access all the published census tables from 1991 to 2011 Censuses for research. Special customized tables generated from the 2001 Census database will be made available on request from the researchers. Most of the information required by you can be accessed from this centre.

you've helped me a lot. Still some minor question are there to be get answered.

 

For the question number 4: The last caste based census in India was 1931. Hence, I was told to refer those census before India got Freedom. So I saw that only AGARI caste was there in India at 1901 census (Wikipedia).

 

And JNU Office is having data of 1991 to 2011 only(as per your reply). So now which department I should look for??

Definitely, you are absolutely right. And yes, I'm really thankful for that. And yeah, I WILL follow his/her guidelines.

 

I just wanted to know that whom I should ask the question through RTI and how to frame the question for the same. I hope you understand my intention.
