5,000 navi mumbaikars demand end to train ticket surcharge

Frustrated with having to shell out Rs 5 every time they buy a suburban railway ticket on the Harbour Line, 5,000 Navi Mumbai commuters have signed a referendum seeking this surcharge be abolished. A letter in this regard was sent on Sunday to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu by Ravi Srivastava, an RTI activist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member. Srivastava had appealed under RTI to the Chief Information Commissioner to provide all relevant documents, including contracts.
