Dear member,

You can file RTI application before PIO of RTA/RTO of the concerned District/City with Indian Postal Order of Rs.10/- drawn in favour of Public Information Officer, office of RTA/RTO and get all particulars of the vehicle you want. Moreover,

Vehicle regiatration particulars are in public domain so one can search in RTO website. Mere mention of personal information is not enough to deny it by PIO. Registration of vehicle is a public activity of RTO / RTA and therefore it cannot be denied feigning personal information.

Moreover, for guidance in drafting/submitting RTI application, to know about rules/fee refer to following links.

You can now know the ownership details of a vehicle using the Vehicle registration number instantly through SMS, and need not file a RTI application for the purpose.

Kindly refer to the following link for more details:

Get Vehicle information in Maharashtra.

Nevertheless, in case you could not obtain the required information through SMS as above, then kindly file a RTI application with the Public Information Officer of the concerned RTO. Please refer to the following links:

Download Maharashtra RTI Forms.

RTI Act offers three levels to obtain a required information.

Flow of a RTI application, once having been filed.

Time limits under which I will get the information.
