Denial of Provident Fund info is misuse of Section 8 of RTI Act: CIC Credits: Vinita Deshmukh 08 March 2018 2

CIC Acharyulu did not accept these examples presented by the CPIO; he observed that Public Provident Fund is public information and should be given under RTI, to anyone who seeks it, even if it is of another person

Please go through decision.  Professor feels that as amount is being contributed by Public Authority in the name of any person, the information is not personal information.  For the first time , I am hearing such decision on "abuse " of Section  8 (1)(j) .  All these days we are accustomed to hear about applicants misusing and being cantankerous but for first time even PIOs are not spared of such misuse.

I am sure that EPF goes for writ against the decision.

Can this decision be used in other ways must be explored.
