Can I File a RTI against ICICI Bank

Question

sharmar4

Hi,

3 months back all of sudden I received several threatning calls from ICICI bank (ICICI bank third party vendor) regarding payment of purchases made through credit cards which I have never applied or never received.

I had raised my concerns to various department (Customer Care, Head Service Quality, Grievance Cell, etc) in ICICI bank but to no resolution from the bank.

I have filled a application in the Banking Ombudsman Offices, Consumer court also .

Can anyone guide how can I file a RTI against ICICI bank, to get a resolution to my problem with ICICI bank or also any other possible way where I can get the bank to answer my queries.

ICICI Bank is Private Body. You can file your RTI application with the RBI invoking sec 2(f) of the RTI Act which says that "information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority under any other law for the time being in force;"

This means that information related to any Private Body (ICICI Bank) which can be accessed by a Public Authority (RBI) under any law for the time being in force;

If the RBI can access the information sought by you from ICICI Bank under any law, then RBI should access the information and provide it to you.

Also please go through this blogs:

Hope this helps.

      BBMP (Municipal council of Bangalore) does not take either postal or Online R.T.I queries.
      Since there is no accountability, the roads are in disarray and no action has been taken. Now with this covid19 pandemic, these fellows are just sitting and eating peanuts.

      Several compliant either to the BBMP app, P.M.O office or the local M.L.A/MP have fallen on deaf ears.
      Has anyone succeeded in resolving roads via the R.T.I route or some other route?

      I had sought details of loan and copies of agreement entered with World Bank, JICA etc. of IT Expressway Chennai (created in partnership with Govt of TN) However the PIO has replied that they have moved out of world bank loan and taken loan from other banks details of which cannot be disclosed under 8(1) d of RTI Act citing "commercial confidence".
      However the IT Expressway is a public limited company having entered into agreement with Govt of TN and others for developing and maintaining a particular stretch of road.

      Kindly help me frame a good first appeal.
