questions to ask Can I request information from A Pvt Ltd company

Hi,

I was working (around 9 yrs) for a Pvt Ltd IT company in Bangalore and was asked to leave due to recession. But since I didn't receive my settlement dues for more than 2 months, I threatened of legal action after which they sent me a settlement working sheet which had a deduction entry of around 80,000 mentioned as 'Other Deductions'. Since I don't have any dues to the company I asked for an explanation of such a deduction. The company is not willing to provide the information.

 

I wish to know whether this kind of information can be acquired under the RTI act or any other legal means.

Since your company is a Pvt. Ltd. Company, it might not be covered under the RTI Act.

 

Just check if it is a Public Authority as defined in Sec 2(h).

Seshadri, every private company is bound with one or more govt org. like private engg colleges are bound with AICTE, you have to check, which govt org. is very close to your company, for example, FICCI, NASSCOM, Ministry of textiles etc. Just shoot a RTI to that govt department and ask for the info in particular of your company.
