The Maharashtra SIC Ramanand Tiwari was suspended by Governor on 20 January 2011, due to his alleged role in the Adarsha Scandal. However, the post is still lying vacant. Therefore, thousands of appeals by Mumbaikars are pending.

There are more than 300 cases, in which a hearing was conducted by Tiwari, but no decision was given. Additionally, hearing on the second appeals and complaints were postponed 'until further notice' when Tiwari was dismissed.

As and when the enquiry about Tiwari's role in Adarsh Role gets completed, the governor will submit the report to Supreme Court. Then the supreme Court will make any further enquiries as it deems fit, and then any final decision in this matter will be taken.

Meanwhile, the State government has not made any alternate arrangement for handling the charge of Ramanand Tiwari.
