RTI officer is not giving full information

Arvind Singh Pal

Question

Arvind Singh Pal

Hi,

I applied for passport from Lucknow in December 2007 and still waiting for that because its status is "police report not received". While i attended all police verification and police department shown me document that report has been received by Lucknow office.

I applied for RTI 2 times but they not given me full information as i asked

And my problem is remaining same.

So please any member help me what i have to do?

Could i take some legal action against that RTI officer?

Thanks

Arvind

Dear Arvind Singh Pal, without knowing the contents of your RTI application and its reply by the PIO, it is not possible for anybody to say if indeed the PIO has furnished an incomplete reply. Please go through the blog of jps50 http://www.rtiindia.org/forum/blogs/jps50/64-how-file-rti-application-delay-passport.html. This will give you valuable insight on how to proceed further.

In that case, you will have to follow up with the Police Department of your town which does the Police verification. They will give you the reference or bundle number under which the verification report was sent to the RPO (if verification was done).

Regarding the incomplete reply of the PIO, you can file a First Appeal under Sec 19(1) quoting Sec 18(1)(e) of the RTI Act.
