First the citizen has to file a first appeal with Appellate Authority who is a senior officer of the CPIO.

If the citizen is aggrieved with the decision of the AA, he/she has to file second appeal with the CIC. Since the public authority is under central government, the applicant has no option of going to SIC.

Welcome to RTI India - Complete Online Community Portal for Right to Information

For CPIO it is CIC & For SPIO it is SIC

RTI procedure is :

1. RTI Application with Fee to PIO

2. If no reply/ not satisfied with reply in 30 (or 35 days in case of submission to APIO or under Section 6(3)),

First Appeal to the First Appellate Authority (normally a officer higher than the PIO)

3. If no reply/ not satisfied with reply in 45 days to the First Appeal, then Second Appeal to the SIC/CIC (time period is 90 days)

Possibly this info will be of good help to you

Dr. M. Faiyazuddin

Since you sought information from CPIO, you should go to CIC but you should follow the formalities of FA and then decide accordingly.
